Fatal Crash Between Semi and Van Shuts Down Highway 95 in West-Central Wisconsin

DEWHURST, Minn. - One person has been confirmed dead following a collision between a semi-truck and a van, resulting in the closure of a portion of Highway 95 in west-central Wisconsin on Friday. The tragic incident took place in the Township of Dewhurst, near County J, about 50 miles east of Eau Claire.

Reports from the Clark County Sheriff's Office indicate that the van, traveling north on County J, entered the intersection at Hwy. 95. In a devastating turn of events, the semi-truck, moving east on Hwy. 95, crashed into the van at the intersection.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene promptly, and as of 1:45 p.m., they are still working diligently to assess the situation. The exact number of fatalities and injuries remains unclear at this time. The Wisconsin State Patrol has been called in to assist with the ongoing investigation.

Due to the severity of the incident, a closure of the affected stretch of Hwy. 95 is expected for several hours on Friday, and motorists are being urged to avoid the area. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation has provided alternative routes for eastbound and westbound travelers.

Eastbound motorists are advised to utilize Fisher Avenue and Pinewood Road, before taking Riveria Avenue to regain access to the highway. Meanwhile, westbound motorists are encouraged to take Riveria Avenue and Pineview Road, then proceed onto Fisher Avenue to rejoin the highway.
