In a shocking turn of events, a far-right Republican candidate running for superintendent of public instruction in North Carolina, Michele Morrow, has come under fire for advocating violence against leading Democrats on social media. Morrow's controversial tweets, which called for the execution of former President Barack Obama and President Joe Biden, were uncovered by CNN.

The unearthed posts, spanning from 2019 to 2021, revealed Morrow's extreme views and hostility towards Democratic figures. Among her chilling remarks, she suggested that Obama should face a firing squad, stating, "We could make some money back from televising his death." She also called for the killings of Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, Governor Roy Cooper, former Governor Andrew Cuomo, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Senator Chuck Schumer, Anthony Fauci, and Bill Gates.

Confronted by reporters and a CNN crew about her inflammatory statements, Morrow initially responded by dismissing Obama's actions as drone attacks. She argued that the media's portrayal of her comments highlighted the need for real history teachings and critical thinking skills in K-12 education.

During a parking-lot confrontation with CNN correspondent Shimon Prokupecz, Morrow refused to comment on the matter and instead focused on her dedication to quality education and the welfare of North Carolina families. When confronted about her tweets, she questioned their authenticity, asking, "How do you know those are my words?" Despite the evidence presented, Morrow attempted to divert the conversation back to education-related issues.

In a video posted on social media, Morrow expressed frustration over what she described as consistent monitoring of her and her family's activities by three CNN reporters. The situation has raised concerns about potential interference in the upcoming 2024 election, similar to Morrow's accusations about the 2020 election.

The race for superintendent in North Carolina has become a focal point, particularly due to increasing efforts by the Republican right to gain control over public schooling. Morrow, a self-proclaimed "lifelong Christian conservative" who homeschools her children, has previously received the endorsement of Moms for Liberty, a national right-wing pressure group. Her unexpected victory in the Republican primary against the incumbent superintendent propelled her into the spotlight.

It is important to note that Morrow was present at the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, when supporters of former President Donald Trump stormed the building in an attempt to overturn the election results. While she disapproved of the violence, Morrow asserted that her campaign's success was due to her focus on scholastic matters, such as math, reading, and science.

The North Carolina public school system, responsible for educating 1.3 million students, will undoubtedly be closely following this contentious superintendent race. Morrow's controversial remarks have sparked a national debate about the boundaries of free speech, the role of extremism in politics, and the need for responsible leadership in shaping the minds of future generations.
