Injuries plagued the 2023 campaign for Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, but as we head into the 2024 fantasy football season, there are reasons for optimism. Despite a disappointing year, Burrow has the potential to return to top-five form and reclaim his spot as a high-end weekly fantasy starter.

In 2023, Burrow's performance fell short of expectations. He appeared in only 10 games and averaged just 15.5 fantasy points per game, totaling 155.2 fantasy points for the season. These numbers placed him outside the top-20 quarterbacks in fantasy football. Burrow's struggles were partly due to a calf injury that hampered his play early on, followed by a wrist injury that abruptly ended his season.

Previously drafted as the QB5, Burrow managed only four top-10 finishes in his limited appearances last year. He finished outside the top-20 in five weeks, further contributing to his decline as a fantasy asset. Notably, his overall grade (77.9) and passing grade (76.8) dropped significantly compared to previous seasons, where he consistently ranked as a top-three quarterback in both categories.

However, Burrow's chances for a bounce-back season in 2024 are solid. With his two key weapons, Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, returning alongside him, Burrow has a stacked arsenal at his disposal. If he can remain fully healthy, there is nothing to prevent him from returning to his previous top-five form and once again becoming a reliable weekly fantasy starter.

Fantasy football managers who are willing to forgive and forget may find value in selecting Burrow as a late-round or sleeper pick. Expectations should be tempered due to his injury history, but the potential rewards for those who place their faith in his resurgence are promising.

As the 2024 fantasy football season approaches, keep a close eye on Joe Burrow as he seeks redemption and looks to prove himself as a top-tier quarterback once more.
