David Wilburn Parton, brother to the famed country singer, passed away on Friday, Nov. 15, at the age of 82. The somber news was shared by David's sister, Stella Parton, through a heartfelt social media announcement.

Stella Parton, at 75, expressed her sorrow on X (formerly known as Twitter), where she wrote, "My brother David passed away peacefully this morning. It's never easy to say goodbye to a loved one but he got his angel wings and is now at peace." She further detailed that David had died at his home in White Pine, Tennessee. The family has chosen not to disclose the cause of his death.

Additionally, Stella took to Facebook to share her grief with a broader audience, stating, "It's never easy to lose a loved one. My wonderful brother David Parton passed in the early hours of the morning." On the following day, she acknowledged the support from friends and fans, posting, "Thank you for all your kind thoughts to my family as we continue to grieve the loss of our much loved and cherished oldest brother David."

David was part of a large family, being one of 12 siblings. His surviving siblings include sisters Willadene, 84, Cassie, 73, Freida, 67, and Rachel, 65, and brothers Coy, 81, and Robert Jr., 76. Sadly, three of their brothers—Randy, Larry, and Floyd—had passed away before David. He is also survived by his wife of 45 years, Kay Parton, their two daughters, Donna and Dena, and his nephew, Lucas, whom the obituary describes as his "nephew/son."

While Dolly Parton, known for her iconic career and songs like "9 to 5," has not yet made a public statement regarding her brother's passing, the family’s gratitude for the support they have received is evident. The Parton family continues to lean on each other during this time of profound loss.
