England's champions, Leon Edwards and Tom Aspinall, have successfully weighed in for their upcoming championship defenses at UFC 304. Edwards, the titleholder in the welterweight division, came in at 170 pounds, while his opponent Belal Muhammad weighed in at 169 pounds. Aspinall, holding the interim heavyweight title, tipped the scales at 251 pounds, while his challenger Curtis Blaydes weighed in at 256 pounds.
Both headlining fights at UFC 304 are rematches of previous encounters that ended in disappointment. Edwards' first bout against Muhammad resulted in a no-contest due to an eye poke that left Muhammad unable to continue. Similarly, Aspinall's initial fight against Blaydes ended abruptly in just 15 seconds due to a knee injury sustained by Aspinall.
With all fighters making weight, the stage is now set for these champions to settle the score once and for all. The event will take place at Co-op Live in Manchester, with a total of 28 fighters scheduled to compete. Apart from one exception, all fighters successfully met their weight requirements.
The sole fighter to miss weight was bantamweight Jake Hadley, who stepped in on short notice to replace Ramon Taveras in a bout against Caolan Loughran. Hadley, normally competing in the flyweight division, weighed in at 137 pounds, exceeding the limit for a non-title bantamweight fight by one pound. Consequently, the officials have announced that the matchup between Hadley and Loughran will proceed as a catchweight contest. Hadley will incur a penalty of 20 percent of his purse for the weight infraction.
The UFC 304 event promises to be an exciting spectacle, with Edwards and Muhammad seeking to settle their unfinished business while Aspinall aims to prove himself against Blaydes once again. With all fighters ready to step into the Octagon, fans can look forward to an intense night of action-packed fights on the scheduled date.
