Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has agreed to adhere to court directives in Brazil to lift the ban on his social platform, X, in the nation. The Brazilian Supreme Court imposed the ban on X on August 30, leading Musk, who is also the owner of SpaceX and Tesla, to voice his dissatisfaction with the decision on social media. Justice Alexandre de Moraes initiated a criminal investigation against Musk, accusing him of disseminating misinformation, which prompted the enforcement of the ban.

The Brazilian court has given Musk's company, X, 48 hours to ensure compliance with the court's previous rulings. Failure to comply may result in fines of $907,000 per day. The ban on X has affected approximately 40 million Brazilian users who previously accessed the platform, which boasts over 550 million monthly users globally. Brazilian authorities have also targeted Musk's satellite internet provider, Starlink, with fines amounting to $3 million withdrawn from local bank accounts.

Starlink officials have confirmed their commitment to abide by the court orders, including the blocking of X as instructed by the Brazilian Supreme Court. The platform became accessible to Brazilian users once again after an automated system update altered the traffic direction. Musk's impassioned defense of free speech as the essence of democracy highlights his stance against the ban, challenging the actions of the judiciary in inhibiting the platform's operations in the country.
