The Department of Justice (DOJ) has extended the review period for the proposed merger between Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines until August 15. The extension of the review deadline was mutually agreed upon by Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and the DOJ. The merger, if approved, would see Alaska Airlines acquiring Hawaiian Airlines in a cash transaction. Alaska Airlines remains optimistic about the potential benefits of the merger, emphasizing the creation of a stronger platform for growth and competition in the aviation industry. Additionally, the merger is expected to generate long-term job opportunities, support investments in local communities, and contribute to environmental efforts.
