A tragic incident unfolded at Disney Springs in Florida when Dr. Kanokporn Tangsuan, a doctor from NYU Langone hospital, passed away suddenly after dining at Raglan Road Irish Pub and Restaurant on October 5. Despite notifying the waitstaff about her nut and dairy allergies, Tangsuan fell ill after eating at the restaurant. She was immediately administered an epi-pen and rushed to a local hospital, where she eventually succumbed to anaphylaxis due to elevated levels of dairy and nut in her system.

In the wake of Dr. Tangsuan's tragic death, her husband, Jeffrey Piccolo, has filed a 19-page lawsuit in Orange County, Florida, against Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, alleging negligence. The lawsuit claims that despite Tangsuan's efforts to confirm allergen-free food multiple times with the staff, she was served food that contained allergens, leading to her fatal allergic reaction.

The lawsuit further asserts that Disney failed to properly educate and train its employees to ensure the safety of patrons with food allergies, despite advertising food allergies as a top priority at its parks and resorts. Piccolo is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 under Florida's wrongful death act, including compensation for mental pain and suffering, loss of income, and funeral expenses.

Disney has not responded to requests for comment regarding the lawsuit and the tragic incident that has left a family devastated. The case highlights the importance of proper training and adherence to food safety protocols, particularly in catering to individuals with food allergies, to prevent such heart-wrenching events in the future.
