### Disney's Animal Kingdom Gears Up for Tropical Americas Expansion with Major Demolition Plan

Disney is moving ahead with its ambitious plans to revitalize Dinoland U.S.A. at Animal Kingdom. A crucial permit has been filed with the South Florida Water Management District for the initial phase of the Tropical Americas expansion, also known as Project Ro. This permit includes a detailed plan to demolish specific sections of Dinoland U.S.A. to pave the way for new attractions.

The site demolition plan in the permit pinpoints Chester & Hester's Dino-Rama as the primary area set for removal. Key attractions to be dismantled include the carnival-style Fossil Fun Games, the TriceraTop Spin ride, and the Chester & Hester's Dinosaur Treasures gift shop. This initial demolition is a significant step toward creating the new Tropical Americas land, which will reflect the vibrant cultures and ecosystems of Central and South America.

With this permit filing, Disney is closer to beginning work on Tropical Americas. The new area will offer innovative experiences, including the first-ever attraction based on "Encanto" and a new Indiana Jones adventure. The Indiana Jones experience will take guests on an archaeological expedition through a newly uncovered Maya temple, where they will seek out a mysterious creature said to dwell within its depths.

The permit also addresses environmental concerns, outlining measures to protect surrounding areas, consistent with Disney's dedication to conservation at Animal Kingdom. The first wave of attraction closures will commence in January 2025. The final opportunity for guests to enjoy TriceraTop Spin, Fossil Fun Games, and Chester & Hester's Dinosaur Treasures is set for January 12, 2025.

While much of the Dino-Rama area will be closed, several attractions within Dinoland U.S.A. will remain operational for the time being. Visitors can still enjoy DINOSAUR, The Boneyard, Restaurantosaurus, Dino-Bite Snacks, and Trilo-Bites until later in 2025. The entire Tropical Americas land is expected to open in 2027, promising to bring a fresh wave of excitement to Disney's Animal Kingdom.
