**Lions Edge Texans 26-23: Coach Dan Campbell Praises Team Grit and Defensive Prowess**

"Credit to DeMeco and his crew. They fought hard and gave it everything," Campbell noted. He praised the Lions for their determination, particularly the defense, which played a pivotal role in the second half. "Our defense stepped up big time—four punts, two picks, and a missed field goal in the second half. That was crucial for our comeback."

Campbell also expressed his confidence in kicker Jake Bates, recounting a moment from practice that solidified his trust. "On Thursday, we replicated a game-winning scenario, and Bates nailed a long-distance field goal in the wind. That gave me confidence during the game," he said.

Aaron Glenn, the Lions' Defensive Coordinator, received specific praise for his unit's performance. "Without the defense producing those turnovers, we wouldn't have had a shot to come back. A.G. made necessary adjustments at halftime, and the defense held strong," Campbell stated.

Reflecting on quarterback Jared Goff's performance, Campbell dismissed concerns over certain plays. He emphasized understanding the circumstances and credited Goff's decision-making. "The interceptions were situational, and some timing was off. But these weren't bad decisions by Goff," he explained.

Addressing the defense's ability to pressure the quarterback despite losing Aidan Hutchinson, Campbell acknowledged the defensive line's efforts. "Our D-line, particularly Mac, stepped up. They shut down the run game and applied significant pressure, which was critical for us," he said.

Commenting on tight end Sam LaPorta's injury, Campbell downplayed its severity but indicated it would be evaluated. "He has a slight sprain in his AC joint. We'll see how significant it is, but he might miss the next game," Campbell revealed.

When asked about the team's outlook at this point in the season, Campbell expressed his satisfaction. "This team has immense fight and the ability to bounce back. After our win at Green Bay, facing another tough opponent, and coming out on top speaks volumes. We need to stay focused and take it one game at a time. We're in the thick of it now."
