The Detroit Lions have released their final offseason depth chart ahead of the last preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. With the starters solidified on both offense and defense, the focus now shifts to the intriguing placements behind the first team.

One notable position to watch is wide receiver, where Donovan Peoples-Jones finds himself listed on the third team offense. This comes as a surprise, considering many expected him to earn the No. 4 wide receiver spot at the beginning of training camp. Instead, Tom Kennedy, Daurice Fountain, and Maurice Alexander are listed ahead of him on the second unit. Kaden Davis, who impressed with a touchdown in the exhibition win over the Chiefs, is slotted behind Peoples-Jones on the fourth team. Meanwhile, undrafted rookies Isaiah Williams and Jalon Calhoun have been given higher placements on the depth chart, even though practice reps indicate Davis should be ahead. Williams, in particular, saw some first-team reps in Tuesday's session.

The offensive line has been affected by injuries, disrupting practice participation. Starting right guard Kevin Zeitler, along with reserve tackles Dan Skipper and Giovanni Manu, have all missed practices. Additionally, rookie guard Christian Mahogany remains inactive due to a non-football illness. Of note, Skipper is listed as the second-team left tackle, potentially indicating the team's high regard for him. His performance in the upcoming game against the Steelers could further solidify his place.

On the defensive side, the depth chart aligns with what has been seen in practice. In the base nickel package, Amik Robertson (or Ennis Rakestraw) fills the slot position, while Derrick Barnes assumes the SAM role when three linebackers are on the field. Mitchell Agude has impressively climbed to the second line at SAM, receiving consistent reps alongside Isaac Ukwu and James Houston at the end position.

Special teams also present an intriguing battle, particularly for the return specialists. Kalif Raymond is listed as the first-team punt returner, but there is no sign of Donovan Peoples-Jones in the queue for reps as a punt returner. Instead, Isaiah Williams and Maurice Alexander are designated as the backups, in that order. The kick returner position sees Williams, Alexander, and rookie RB Sione Vaki receiving significantly more reps than Craig Reynolds or Khalil Dorsey. Determining the kick returners will be one of the most important remaining decisions for the Lions.

As the preseason comes to a close, the Lions' final offseason depth chart provides insight into the team's evaluations and positional battles. The upcoming matchup against the Steelers will serve as a final opportunity for players to make their case for a spot on the roster as the regular season draws near.
