Delta Airlines Unveils Custom-Liveried A350 Aircraft to Celebrate LA28 Olympics Transfer

Delta Airlines, in partnership with the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games, has unveiled a special aircraft livery to celebrate the transfer of the Olympic Flag from Paris to Los Angeles. The airline's custom A350 aircraft, adorned with a blend of Delta blue, red, and Olympic gold, signifies the return of the Olympic Games to the United States in 2028.
The LA28 livery, designed by Delta's creative agency, Window Seat, features a sunset-like color gradient that fades into a starry impression. The aircraft also displays three palm trees, symbolizing the years that Los Angeles hosted the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games: 1932, 1984, and now 2028. This honor is shared by only two other cities in the world - Paris and London.
Delta's commitment extends beyond the visual representation of their partnership. As part of their ongoing efforts towards achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, the airline has taken measures to reduce the environmental impact of the LA28 Flag Flight. They have covered the cost of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) for the flights carrying the Olympic and Paralympic flags. While SAF won't be physically on the flights from Paris to Los Angeles, for each gallon of conventional jet fuel consumed on these flights, Delta will displace a gallon with SAF for their California-based flying.
Delta's innovative approach towards sustainability doesn't stop at SAF. The airline has implemented various measures to make the in-flight travel experience more eco-friendly. These include switching to compostable bamboo cutlery and testing paper cups, as well as replacing ground support equipment with electric models.
Following this special journey, the aircraft will resume regular service, allowing Delta customers to fly on the custom-designed aircraft. In addition, fans can commemorate this historic moment with limited edition LA28 pins available on Delta's Team USA shop.
Delta's partnership with LA28 marks a significant milestone in their multi-year collaboration with Team USA. The airline has previously designed custom liveries for Beijing 2022 and has plans for another livery for Milano Cortina 2026. This partnership showcases Delta's commitment to supporting athletes and promoting sustainability in sports.
Delta Airlines continues to lead the way in sustainable aviation practices, demonstrating their dedication to reducing their carbon footprint while delivering exceptional travel experiences.
