In a shocking turn of events, singer Dawn Richard, formerly signed to Sean "Diddy" Combs' Bad Boy Records label, has filed a lawsuit against the music mogul. Richard, who gained fame as a member of the group Danity Kane and as a participant on Combs' MTV show "Making the Band," has accused Combs of sexual assault, inhumane treatment, and physical abuse towards his ex-partner Casandra "Cassie" Ventura.
According to court documents obtained by Page Six, Richard claims that she endured verbal abuse from Combs during their time together, with the rapper allegedly using derogatory language towards contestants, including calling them "fat," "ugly," "bitches," and "hoes." Richard also alleges that in 2005, she witnessed Combs' previous partner Kim Porter leaving a studio with apparent bruises on her face.
Furthermore, Richard states that in 2009 and 2011, she was sexually assaulted multiple times by Combs, who would touch her inappropriately while she was undressed in a changing room. The lawsuit also alleges that Combs physically abused Ventura, throwing her against a wall, choking her, and dragging her up a flight of stairs in his Los Angeles residence, all while under the influence of drugs.
The court documents also mention an incident where Combs reportedly threw scalding eggs at Ventura, berating her for not meeting his expectations. It is claimed that Combs punched Ventura in the face and attempted to strangle her with his bare hands. When Richard and her bandmate Kalenna Harper tried to support Ventura and encourage her to leave the toxic relationship, they allegedly faced threats from Combs.
Richard further accuses Combs of subjecting her to grueling rehearsals without sleep, resulting in weight loss, dehydration, and body rashes. She also claims to have witnessed Combs and other males engaging in disturbing behavior, specifically mentioning an alleged incident where they were involved in sexually assaulting a former female assistant at a hotel pool in Glasgow.
Seeking compensatory damages, mental anguish compensation, punitive damages, and coverage of her legal fees, Richard hopes to hold Combs accountable for his alleged actions. Combs' attorney, Erica Wolff, responded to the lawsuit, expressing the rapper's shock and disappointment. Wolff insists that Richard's claims are false and motivated by financial gain, as they coincided with the release of her album and press tour.
It's important to note that Sean "Diddy" Combs is currently facing multiple lawsuits alleging sexual crimes. While he has denied several of these allegations, a video surveillance footage showing him physically attacking Cassie Ventura in a hotel in 2016 was released to the public in May.
As the legal battle unfolds, industry insiders and fans alike anxiously await the outcome, hoping for justice to prevail and a clear resolution to these disturbing allegations.
