In a surprising turn of events, soccer legend David Beckham has launched a lawsuit against Hollywood star Mark Wahlberg and fitness chain F45 Training. Beckham's firm, DB Ventures, alleges that he was deceived by Wahlberg, resulting in a substantial financial loss of $10 million.
According to reports from The Sun, Beckham claims that he was promised stocks in F45 Training but was only provided with them after their value had significantly declined. This alleged delay in delivering the promised shares left Beckham out of pocket and seeking compensation for his losses.
Beckham's lawsuit targets not only Wahlberg but also his investment firm, Mark Wahlberg Investment Group, along with F45 founders Adam Gilchrist and Rob Deutsch. The lawsuit alleges that these individuals played a role in the deal that ultimately led to Beckham's financial setback.
The English soccer star had agreed to become a global ambassador for F45 Training when he relocated to Los Angeles. F45 Training is a popular fitness center chain with locations in 60 countries, including the United States. The chain offers high-intensity functional group workouts that have gained a reputation for being effective and enjoyable.
Beckham had actively promoted the brand on his social media platforms, appearing in several F45 Training posts. However, those posts have since been deleted, indicating a fallout between the soccer star and the fitness chain.
In response to Beckham's lawsuit, Wahlberg and his co-defendants are seeking to have the case dismissed, asserting that the claims of fraudulent conduct are unfounded. They argue that Beckham himself bears responsibility for the losses he incurred.
Beckham's relationship with Wahlberg dates back to 2007 when they became neighbors in Los Angeles. In 2019, Wahlberg acquired a minority stake in F45 Training through his investment firm, along with FOD Capital.
This lawsuit is not the first attempt by Beckham to address his grievances concerning F45 Training. Previously, he had attempted to file a joint lawsuit with LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman, who had his own issues with the fitness chain. However, a judge ruled that the parties must file separate suits.
Back in 2021, F45 Training had announced Beckham's partnership with the brand. In a statement, Beckham credited Wahlberg for introducing him to the franchise and expressed his admiration for F45 Training's training model.
As this legal battle unfolds, the outcome remains uncertain. Beckham's lawsuit against Wahlberg and F45 Training is expected to shed light on the intricacies of their business dealings and determine accountability for the alleged losses suffered by the soccer star.
