### Daniel Jones to Remain Giants' Starting Quarterback Despite Struggles

Head coach Brian Daboll confirmed that Daniel Jones will continue as the New York Giants' starting quarterback when the team faces the Pittsburgh Steelers next Monday on Monday Night Football. This decision comes in the wake of a difficult 28-3 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, where Jones was benched in the fourth quarter.

Jones endured a challenging game against the Eagles, completing 14 of 21 passes for 99 yards and suffering seven sacks that resulted in a loss of 56 yards. He also recorded 20 rushing yards from five carries. The Giants’ total offensive output was a mere 119 yards, falling significantly short of expectations. Philadelphia standout Saquon Barkley, now with the Eagles, torched his former team with 187 yards from scrimmage, including 176 yards on the ground.

The dismal performance led Daboll to replace Jones with 11:26 left on the clock, aiming to spark a turnaround that ultimately did not materialize. Despite being pulled, Jones expressed frustration but remains focused on his role. "I'm just going to continue to prepare and try to play as well as I can," Jones said. "I believe in myself, believe in this offense. I'm just going to focus on myself."

The Giants have struggled at home, losing all four of their home games and scoring just 31 points across those matches—averaging 7.75 points per game. Jones has yet to throw a touchdown pass at MetLife Stadium this season. Backup quarterback Drew Lock did little to distinguish himself after coming on, completing only 3 of 8 passes for six yards and fumbling a shotgun snap on his first play.

Offensive issues were glaring, with the Giants converting just three of 14 third downs and failing in their sole red zone opportunity, a situation exacerbated by an offensive pass interference penalty that nullified a touchdown pass to Theo Johnson. The longest play the Giants managed against the Eagles was 14 yards, highlighting their inability to generate explosive plays.

Daboll acknowledged the team's offensive woes, pointing specifically to third-down efficiency, red zone performance, and the lack of big plays. "It's hard to generate points when your longest play is 14 yards," Daboll said. "We're continuing to work on that. We're not getting results, not equal to the work and effort that we're putting into it."

Jones took responsibility for the offensive ineptitude, saying, "I'm the quarterback, it's my responsibility to get everything going and build momentum, execute the opportunities that are there. Football's a team game and it takes everybody playing well."

Despite the ongoing struggles, Jones will retain his starting position against the Steelers. However, the uncertainty surrounding his future looms large as the Giants seek a turnaround in their fortunes.
