According to the latest report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), COVID-19 has reached "very high" or "high" levels in more than half of the states across the country. This includes three states in New England, as well as several other states across the nation.

The CDC's wastewater surveillance program has played a crucial role in monitoring the level of COVID-19 circulation, serving as an early warning system for potential increases in hospitalizations and confirmed cases. The program collects data from various states, providing valuable insight into the prevalence of the virus.

Recent findings from the program indicate that seven states, including California, Texas, and Florida, have reached "very high" COVID-19 levels. Another 19 states, such as New Hampshire, Maine, and Connecticut, have registered "high" levels of the virus. These numbers reflect a steady increase in COVID cases over the past 45 days across the nation.

In Massachusetts, the most recent data suggests a "moderate" level of COVID-19. While the state's numbers remain below last winter's peak, they are still escalating, as reported by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. Wastewater samples from Boston and surrounding areas show that COVID levels have more than tripled since late April.

It's worth noting that the Department of Public Health has temporarily halted reporting on respiratory illnesses, including COVID-19, until August 1st. However, monitoring efforts will continue to keep track of the situation.

The CDC report also highlights the states with the highest levels of COVID in their wastewater. Oregon, Nevada, and Florida topped the list, followed by California, Texas, Arkansas, and Maryland. Meanwhile, Vermont has a "moderate" level of the virus circulating, while Rhode Island reports "low" levels.

With COVID-19 levels on the rise in numerous states, it is crucial for individuals to remain vigilant in adhering to health and safety guidelines. Vaccination efforts continue across the nation, offering a ray of hope in combating the virus's spread.
