### ACC Comments on Controversial Finish in Miami-Virginia Tech Game
In a game that ended in dramatic fashion, the Miami Hurricanes defeated the Virginia Tech Hokies 38-34 at Hard Rock Stadium. The potentially game-winning touchdown for Virginia Tech was initially ruled in their favor but was later overturned after a review, leading the ACC to release a statement early Saturday morning.
The ACC explained that "during the review process of the last play of the Virginia Tech at Miami game, it was determined that the loose ball was touched by a Miami player while he was out of bounds which makes it an incomplete pass and immediately ends the play." This contentious decision came after a chaotic final moment with only three seconds left on the clock.
With the Hokies positioned at Miami's 30-yard line, Virginia Tech's quarterback Kyron Drones launched a Hail Mary pass toward the end zone. Both Miami and Virginia Tech players fought fiercely for the ball, resembling a rebounding battle in basketball. Virginia Tech's Da'Quan Felton seemed to have caught the ball along with Miami defenders Mishael Powell and Tyler Rowe. However, it was Miami's Isaiah Horton, who had switched to a defensive role for the play, who emerged holding the ball aloft.
In the immediate aftermath, Virginia Tech celebrated what they believed to be a game-winning touchdown while Miami contested the decision. A review was called, and the touchdown was subsequently overturned, resulting in an incomplete pass.
Virginia Tech's head coach Brent Pry expressed his hope that the officials had made the right call. "The way the game ended, I hope they got that call right," Pry stated. "To overturn it, take it from our kids, our coaches, our fans. I hope they got it right."
Conversely, Miami's head coach Mario Cristobal offered a straightforward assessment of the situation, commenting, "I saw an incomplete pass. That's all I can say."
This victory brought Miami's record to 5-0, while Virginia Tech dropped to 2-3.
