**Bowl Projections Update: Tennessee Falls to Las Vegas Bowl**
Updated bowl projections have arrived, set to be published every Tuesday moving forward. Stewart's recent Playoff bracket projections have stirred up quite a conversation. Sunday’s edition showed a 10-2 Tennessee team narrowly missing out and landing as the first team excluded. Further projections see the Volunteers heading to the Las Vegas Bowl to face Arizona State, a considerable drop from their previous year’s appearance in the Citrus Bowl against Iowa.
Speaking of the Citrus Bowl, the current projections dismiss Tennessee from returning due to their participation last year. This spot is now projected to be taken by South Carolina, set to finish the season at 9-3 alongside LSU and Texas A&M. The Gamecocks, riding a wave of momentum and fan support, edge out the competition and secure the Citrus Bowl invitation.
In another notable shift, BYU's anticipated position as the Big 12 champion has been ceded to Colorado. Should BYU falter in one of their remaining regular-season games, it opens the door for an exciting Alamo Bowl matchup between Washington State (11-1) and BYU (11-2).
Currently, projections suggest 71 teams could be eligible for the 70 non-CFP bowl slots, with Eastern Michigan potentially being left out. Remember, most non-CFP bowl selections are not strictly based on conference standings, allowing room for interesting and diverse matchups.
