In a surprising turn of events at the 2024 Upper Deck NHL Draft, talented forward Cole Eiserman found himself being selected by the New York Islanders at No. 20. Despite being one of the top goal-scorers available in the first round, Eiserman expressed shock at falling so far down the draft order.

With an impressive record of 89 points, including 58 goals and 31 assists, for USA Hockey's National Team Development Program Under-18 Team, Eiserman's abilities were highly regarded. In fact, he currently holds the record for the most goals in the program's history, with 127 goals and 52 power-play goals to his name. Eiserman even scored the historic 127th goal for the United States in the gold medal game of the 2024 IIHF World Under-18 Championship.

The Islanders, who traded back from No. 18 with the Chicago Blackhawks, were thrilled to see Eiserman still available when it came time for their pick. General manager Lou Lamoriello expressed his excitement, stating that they had him rated highly and were looking for a player of Eiserman's caliber.

Upon being drafted, Eiserman expressed his happiness to be selected by the Islanders. However, he couldn't help but notice the teams that had passed on him. Nevertheless, Eiserman is focused on proving the Islanders right and is determined to do everything he can to help the team win games.

Eiserman shared that he felt a special connection with the Islanders during his pre-draft interviews. He admired how they understood him as a player and appreciated his unique perspective on the game. He believes that his ability to see the game differently will be an asset to the team and is excited to bring his goal-scoring ability to New York.

The Islanders, who finished in 22nd place in goals per game last season, are looking forward to Eiserman's potential contribution to their offense in the future. While he is set to play for Boston University under the guidance of coach Jay Pandolfo next season, Lamoriello, who is familiar with Pandolfo from their time with the New Jersey Devils, expressed his anticipation for the day Eiserman can make his mark in the NHL.

Describing Eiserman as a "pure goal-scorer," Lamoriello praised the young forward's talent and expressed confidence in Pandolfo's ability to develop him further. With Eiserman's size, weighing in at 197 pounds, Lamoriello believes that he just needs time to mature, play, and continue his development within a great program and under a great coach.

Overall, the Islanders are delighted with their draft selection and are eager to see Eiserman's progression as he begins his collegiate career. The young forward's determination, combined with the support and development opportunities offered by New York and Boston University, promise an exciting future for Cole Eiserman in the NHL.
