### Chiefs and Steelers Eye Wide Receivers Ahead of NFL Trade Deadline
The upcoming NFL trade deadline on November 5 is expected to spark notable moves in the wide receiver market, with the Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers leading the charge for new talent.
The Jets made headlines early Tuesday by successfully acquiring Davante Adams, closely followed by the Buffalo Bills securing a deal for Amari Cooper. With these significant trades setting the tone, the Chiefs and Steelers are now predicted to be the most proactive in boosting their wide receiver rosters as the deadline approaches.
The Pittsburgh Steelers, who originally aimed for Brandon Aiyuk before his contract extension with the 49ers, had also shown interest in Adams. However, Adams’ preference for the Jets and a reunion with Aaron Rodgers directed him to New York. The Steelers are optimistic about Russell Wilson’s resurgence and believe he can efficiently utilize Arthur Smith's offense to enhance their vertical passing game. Combining an upgraded offense with their formidable defense, Pittsburgh considers themselves strong contenders in the AFC this season.
In contrast, the Kansas City Chiefs are navigating through notable absences with Hollywood Brown and Rashee Rice sidelined for the regular season and second-round pick Skyy Moore not meeting expectations. While maintaining faith in Travis Kelce and JuJu Smith-Schuster, the Chiefs still grapple with a critical need for wide receiver depth. Despite Marquez Valdes-Scantling's availability after being released by the Bills, Kansas City appears uninterested in acquiring him.
Rumors also suggest Mike Williams could be on the move after being deemed expendable in light of the Adams-to-Jets trade. Williams’ contract, a one-year, $10 million deal primarily covered by the Jets, may attract teams in need of receiver talent without necessitating significant cap space.
Elsewhere, Diontae Johnson of the Carolina Panthers and possibly veteran Adam Thielen are potential trade candidates given Carolina’s dismal one-win season. Johnson, previously traded from Pittsburgh to Carolina, leads the Panthers with notable performance metrics and could be available for the right price.
The Cleveland Browns, after trading Cooper to the Bills, might consider additional deals with players like Elijah Moore. However, the Tennessee Titans are not actively shopping DeAndre Hopkins, though circumstances could see him moved before the deadline. Both Evan Engram and Christian Kirk might see the trading block if the Jacksonville Jaguars decide to divest amidst a failing season.
Lastly, the New Orleans Saints and New England Patriots find themselves in challenging positions, the former reeling from multiple losses while the latter looks to offload receivers. The Washington Commanders, on the other hand, are quietly exploring potential acquisitions as the deadline looms.
As November 5 approaches, the Chiefs and Steelers are at the forefront of what promises to be an active period of trades, aiming to strengthen their rosters for a competitive second half of the season.
