Casey had enrolled in the ashram's yoga certification program, which follows a rigorous daily schedule including meditation, breathing exercises, yoga postures, and learning. The center, founded by Swami Vishnudevananda, a disciple of renowned yoga master Swami Sivananda, has been hosting various programs and vacations since its inception in 1967.

Concerned about Casey's sudden disappearance, local authorities have conducted searches around the retreat premises.
