### Chicago Braces for Rapid Snowstorm: Heavy Snowfall to Hit the City

The bustling streets of Chicago are set to be blanketed by a swift and severe snowstorm coming in from Wisconsin, meteorologists warn. By early Thursday afternoon, locals can expect anywhere from 2 to 4 inches of snow, according to Gino Izzi from the National Weather Service.

It's been reported that it's already "snowing hard" at O'Hare Airport and in parts of the Far North Side. The snowstorm will continue to move southward until around 1 p.m., when temperatures are anticipated to rise slightly, leading to a transition to rain. Strong winds will accompany the snow, making conditions even more challenging.

"It's wind-whipped, heavy snow," said Izzi. "Essentially, we're expecting intense snowfall for about two or three hours."

The anticipated storm follows a minor snowfall event on Wednesday, marking Chicago's initial snow of the season. Prior to this, the city had been experiencing an "unusually mild" November.

"There’s now more cold air present," Izzi explained. "We’re going to be seeing temperatures in the 40s, nighttime lows in the 20s and 30s, which are more typical for this time of year."

The looming snowstorm is a stark reminder to residents and officials alike that winter is on the doorstep. As the weather shifts from mild to more seasonal cold, Chicagoans must prepare for a potentially icy and snowy season ahead.
