Chicago Bears defensive back Douglas Coleman III has been released from the hospital following an injury sustained during a preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Coleman, who was carted off the field after making a tackle, gave a thumbs-up to players and coaches before being taken away for medical evaluation.

According to Bears coach Matt Eberflus, Coleman left the hospital after spending the night there and is now traveling back to Chicago. The 26-year-old suffered the injury on the first play of the second half when he made a tackle on Kansas City's Cornell Powell near the Chiefs' sideline.

Eberflus provided some reassurance, stating that Coleman had movement in his limbs when he was taken off the field. This positive sign serves as a glimmer of hope for the young defensive back.

Coleman, who played the past two seasons with the Ottawa Redblacks of the Canadian Football League, began his professional career as an undrafted free agent with the Denver Broncos in 2020. The former Texas Tech standout will now focus on his recovery and return to the field for the Bears once he is cleared by the medical team.

Injuries are always a concern during preseason games, as teams look to evaluate their players and fine-tune their roster ahead of the regular season. The Bears will undoubtedly monitor Coleman's progress closely and provide any necessary updates on his condition.

As the preseason continues, the Chicago Bears will now shift their attention to preparing for their upcoming games, while also hoping for a speedy recovery for Douglas Coleman III.
