In their Summer League debut, the Boston Celtics showcased the talents of Baylor Scheierman, Jaden Springer, Neemias Queta, and Anton Watson. Despite a slow start, Scheierman's all-around performance, Springer's scoring prowess, Queta's dominance in the paint, and Watson's defensive prowess left a lasting impact on the court.

Scheierman, known for his outside shot, showcased his playmaking ability early on. Despite struggling to find his shooting rhythm in the first quarter, he displayed his ability to impact the game in other ways, tallying two assists and setting up a layup for teammate Anton Watson. Late in the second quarter, Scheierman finally got on the scoreboard with a pull-up jumper at the free throw line, marking his first points in a Celtics uniform. In the second half, the 6-foot-6 forward found his shooting stroke, making three of his five 3-point attempts to finish in double digits. Alongside his scoring, Scheierman contributed six assists, five rebounds, and a steal, showcasing his versatility and potential impact at the NBA level this season.

Meanwhile, Jaden Springer stole the spotlight for the Celtics in this game. The 21-year-old guard, acquired from the Philadelphia 76ers in February, displayed his scoring prowess by racking up an impressive 23 points on 8 of 15 shooting. In addition, Springer contributed six assists and two steals, impressing both on offense and defense. He provided a spark for the team, setting up teammate Neemias Queta with a nifty pass for an easy dunk and converting a difficult pull-up jumper in the second half. While Springer may not see extensive playing time this season behind an established backcourt, his standout performance in front of Celtics President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens showed promise for his long-term potential.

Neemias Queta, the most experienced player on the Celtics' Summer League roster, showcased his abilities in the paint. The fourth-year big man displayed energy on both ends of the court, finishing with an impressive stat line of 20 points on 9 of 15 shooting, along with nine rebounds (six offensive), two assists, a steal, and a block. Despite some difficulties finishing around the rim, Queta demonstrated strong rebounding skills and rim protection. With Kristaps Porzingis expected to be sidelined until November or December, Queta could potentially earn early-season minutes under head coach Joe Mazzulla.

Anton Watson, the Celtics' second-round pick in the 2024 draft, had a quieter night on the offensive end, contributing eight points on 4 of 7 shooting. However, Watson made his presence felt on the defensive end, showcasing his versatility and strong defensive instincts with a highlight-worthy block on a layup attempt by the opposition.

The performances of Scheierman, Springer, Queta, and Watson provided a glimmer of hope for Celtics fans during their Summer League debut. With their diverse skill sets and potential to develop further, these players could make an impact and contribute to the team's success in the upcoming season.
