A tragic incident unfolded at Campbellsville University in central Kentucky over the weekend, resulting in the death of 18-year-old freshman wrestler Josiah Kilman. Police responded to a call for an unresponsive male in the school's living quarters, where Kilman was pronounced dead at a local hospital despite rescue efforts.
The authorities swiftly issued an arrest warrant for Kilman's teammate, Charles Escalera, who has been charged with second-degree murder and burglary. Escalera, also a wrestler on the Tigers team, was taken into custody by Kentucky State Police without incident and is currently held at Taylor County Detention Center on a $2 million bond.
In response to the tragedy, Kilman's family launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for transporting the wrestler back to his home state of Montana for a proper burial, estimated to cost over $10,000. The campaign has garnered overwhelming support, with generous donations pouring in, totaling over $68,000.
A spokesperson for the Kilman family expressed deep gratitude for the outpouring of support, stating, "Our family will be eternally grateful for any assistance that you may be able to provide. Thank you for helping them in their time of need."
