### Mayfield's Heads-Up Play Saves Buccaneers in Clash Against Giants

In a pivotal moment during the first quarter of Sunday’s game, the New York Giants missed a crucial opportunity to force a turnover near their own goal line, resulting in a missed chance to disrupt the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' drive.

The situation unfolded with Tampa Bay leading 7-0 and attempting to amplify their lead with a third-and-goal carry from the 1-yard line. Buccaneers' running back Sean Tucker lost control of the football amid a pile of players at the line of scrimmage. As the ball slipped from Tucker's grasp and rolled backward toward the opposite end zone, most players on the field remained unaware of the loose ball.

However, Buccaneers' quarterback Baker Mayfield was alert to the situation. Mayfield darted into the scene from off-screen and quickly secured the ball, outpacing other players who hadn't yet noticed the fumble. Multiple Giants players missed the opportunity, including safety Brian Burns, who could have potentially returned it for a touchdown had he seen the ball rolling near his feet.

Although Mayfield’s efforts did not result in a touchdown as he was brought down by Giants defensive lineman Armon Watts just short of the goal line, he did manage to retain possession for Tampa Bay. Watts was the only Giant who appeared to understand that the ball was loose, but he couldn't beat Mayfield to the recovery.

The Buccaneers salvaged the drive by converting a field goal on the subsequent play, extending their lead to 10-0. This sequence added another frustration to a season already fraught with lowlights for the Giants, highlighting their ongoing struggles to capitalize on critical game moments.
