### Bruins Struggle to Solve Late-Game Issues in OT Loss to Senators
The Boston Bruins found themselves at a loss on Saturday evening as they struggled to identify the reasons behind their poor performance late in the game against the Ottawa Senators at TD Garden. Despite their best efforts, neither head coach Jim Montgomery nor the team's top scorer, David Pastrnak, could explain why Boston faltered so significantly in the closing stages.
The game saw the Bruins remarkably fail to register a single shot on goal during the third period. This lack of offensive activity proved costly when the Senators capitalized less than a minute into overtime to seize a victory. While there are likely several factors behind Boston's continuing difficulties, Bruin's veteran Brad Marchand believes the team needs a shift in mindset to improve.
"Sometimes when you lack confidence or you're overthinking, your execution is slow," Marchand shared with reporters, as noted by The Athletic. "We need to get out of our heads. Stop thinking and start playing. It comes down to will and compete at this point. We need to understand we need to be better. That's part of it."
Marchand further elaborated that the team's hesitation and over-analysis are costing them precious moments on the ice. "Sometimes when you're thinking about where you're supposed to be, you're half a second late. That's too slow in this league," he added.
As the Bruins look to break out of their slump, it will be crucial for them to find a balance between strategic thinking and instinctive play. The path forward likely involves boosting their confidence and playing with more urgency to meet the high standards required in professional hockey.
