**Boris Johnson Reveals Queen Elizabeth II's Private Health Battle Ahead of Her Passing**

Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has disclosed new information regarding Queen Elizabeth II’s health in the days leading up to her death. Johnson's revelations come from a visit to Balmoral, Scotland, on September 6, 2022, just two days prior to the Queen’s passing.

In an excerpt from his forthcoming memoir, *Unleashed*, published in the Daily Mail on September 28, Johnson detailed a conversation with the Queen’s private secretary, Edward Young. According to Johnson, Young attempted to brace him for the Queen’s deteriorating condition. "I had known for a year or more that she had a form of bone cancer, and her doctors were worried that at any time she could enter a sharp decline," Johnson wrote.

Despite her physical struggles, Johnson noted that the Queen’s mental faculties remained strong. Even as Young informed him that the Queen had "gone down quite a bit over the summer," Johnson recalled her mind being "completely unimpaired by her illness." He reminisced about her ability to flash "that great white smile," which brought a sudden uplift to their interaction.

Queen Elizabeth II passed away on September 8, 2022, with her death certificate citing "old age" as the official cause. Buckingham Palace did not provide any additional details regarding her passing. King Charles III recently remarked on his mother's decision to spend her final days at Balmoral, a place cherished by the royal family. Speaking at the opening of the Scottish Parliament, King Charles shared, "My late mother especially treasured the time spent at Balmoral, and it was there, in the most beloved of places, where she chose to spend her final days."

Princess Anne also reflected on the Queen’s final days in the BBC documentary *Elizabeth: The Unseen Queen*. She mentioned that the family had attempted to dissuade the Queen from factoring her favorite location into her decision-making process. "I hope she felt that that was right in the end, because I think we did," Anne said.
