In a heartbreaking interview, Pablo Lopez Perez, the biological father of Dionicio Perez, the 5-year-old boy who tragically died after being left in a hot car for hours in west Omaha, has spoken out about his deep shock and profound grief. Perez, together with his wife Jenny acting as a translator, shared his utter disbelief at the circumstances that led to his son's untimely death.

Unable to comprehend how his son was left in a sweltering car, Perez expressed his outrage, stating, "I don't understand how it was possible how that woman left my son. We went to where my son passed away, and I sat in that car for not even five minutes, and I was already drenched in sweat. I don't understand how that woman parked her car facing the sun, and left my son there."

Perez's concerns extend beyond his late son's tragic fate. He also worries about the welfare of his daughter, who was previously in the custody of the woman responsible for Dionicio's care, Juanita Pinon. Although Pinon no longer has custody of the girl, Perez is unaware of her current whereabouts. He fears that his daughter may be in the hands of an inexperienced caregiver, potentially putting her at the same risk that Dionicio faced.

Revealing the turbulent history with the children's mother, Perez disclosed that he was in a relationship with Dionicio's mother until the boy turned 3 years old. At that point, she abruptly ended the relationship, changed the locks, and moved to a new address. Since then, Perez has worked closely with three different Douglas County case workers in his efforts to regain custody of his children. However, due to his undocumented immigration status, he has lacked proper identification, making the legal process challenging.

To prove his paternity, Perez has attempted to undergo DNA testing, but he seeks assistance to navigate the complex legal system and ensure the safe return of his children. His determination to be reunited with his daughter and honor his late son's memory drives him to seek justice and clarity in this painful ordeal.

The devastating loss of young Dionicio Perez has brought the urgent need for administrative reform and support for undocumented parents who face obstacles in securing the safety and well-being of their children. As the investigation into this tragic incident continues, Perez's plea for assistance and solidarity resonates, emphasizing the importance of protecting vulnerable children and offering support to affected families.
