**Bearman Steps In for Magnussen at Sao Paulo Grand Prix Weekend**
Ollie Bearman has been confirmed to race for Haas for the rest of the Sao Paulo Grand Prix weekend in place of Kevin Magnussen, who will not be returning due to illness. The Danish driver reported feeling unwell before Friday's sessions at the Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace, prompting Bearman to take over for the free practice, Sprint Qualifying, and Saturday's Sprint.
Initially, it was hoped that Magnussen might recover in time for the latter stages of the weekend, but a subsequent announcement after Sprint Qualifying confirmed he would miss both Saturday's qualifying and Sunday's Grand Prix. Bearman, therefore, continues his substitute role for the duration of the event.
In just a few hours’ notice on Saturday, Bearman impressed during Sprint Qualifying by advancing to SQ3, outperforming teammate Nico Hulkenberg, who secured P12. Despite an error preventing him from posting a timed lap, Bearman managed to secure P10 on the grid for the Sprint race—a notable achievement given the short preparation time.
This appearance marks Bearman’s third stand-in performance of the season. He previously stepped in for Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz in Saudi Arabia and filled in for Haas in Azerbaijan when Magnussen was issued a one-race ban.
Bearman's performance in Sao Paulo is particularly timely as he prepares to join the Haas team full-time next year, partnering with Esteban Ocon. Concurrently, he will be finishing his F2 season with PREMA Racing, balancing his time between both commitments.
