At the EE British Academy Film Awards, an unexpected and uncomfortable moment arose when a BBC reporter, Colin Paterson, veered off track during an interview with Irish actor Andrew Scott. The interview took a bizarre turn when Paterson began asking Scott inappropriate questions about another actor's performance in a film.
The incident occurred as Scott was making his way down the red carpet, where Paterson questioned him about actor Barry Keoghan and his role in the film Saltburn. Paterson specifically asked Scott's opinion on a particular naked dance scene in the movie, leading to an awkward exchange that left Scott visibly uncomfortable.
The video of the segment quickly gained traction on social media, sparking outrage from viewers who found Paterson's line of questioning offensive and cringeworthy. Even actor Callum Scott Howells weighed in, expressing disbelief at the nature of the interview.
The BBC has not yet responded to the backlash regarding Paterson's interview style. Despite not being nominated for a BAFTA that night, Scott's performance in the film All of Us Strangers was recognized with six nominations, although the movie did not secure any wins.
Co-star Claire Foy, who played Scott's mother in the film and was nominated for best supporting actress, emphasized the talent of Scott, regardless of the awards outcome. Foy praised Scott's acting prowess, highlighting his extraordinary abilities as an actor.
