The news, reported by multiple sources, comes ahead of the league's offseason moratorium being lifted next month.

At the age of 27, Adebayo will have the opportunity to put pen to paper on July 6, following the league's rules and regulations. Currently serving as the captain and starting center for the Miami Heat, Adebayo has been an integral part of the team since being drafted by them in 2017.

Known for his exceptional defensive skills, Adebayo has been named to the NBA All-Defensive Team for the past five seasons. In the recently concluded season, he earned his first selection to the first team. Expressing his gratitude for the recognition, Adebayo said, "I feel it's a long time coming, obviously. Just staying in this moment, enjoying it, blessed to be able to be one of the ones selected."

In addition to his accomplishments in the NBA, Adebayo is also a two-time U.S. Olympian. He was a part of the gold-medal-winning U.S. Olympic team in Tokyo three years ago and is set to represent his country once again at the upcoming Paris Games.

Adebayo's impressive performance on the court has garnered attention, as he averaged 19.3 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game during the previous season. With two years and approximately $72 million remaining on his current contract, the new extension will further solidify Adebayo's future with the Miami Heat.

This extension comes three years into Adebayo's current deal, a five-year, $163 million contract. The decision to extend his contract demonstrates both Adebayo's commitment to the Heat and the team's recognition of his invaluable contributions to their success on the court.

As the off-season progresses, Heat fans eagerly anticipate Adebayo's official signing and enthusiastically look forward to witnessing his continued growth and impact on the team's success in the seasons to come.
