" The 47-year-old suspect allegedly swiped 64,000 limited-edition A$1 coins that were yet to be released from a warehouse located in the Sydney suburb of Wetherill Park. This incident was brought to light by the specialized investigative unit known as "Strike Force Bandit."

According to authorities, the stolen coins, which resemble regular A$1 coins and hold legal tender status, are currently fetching ten times their face value when sold online. The coins were produced by the Australian mint and were intended to be sold as part of a special commemorative collection. On the mint's official website, a similar range of exclusive coins is listed for A$20 each, while some opportunistic sellers on eBay have placed price tags of nearly A$600 for a pack of three.

Members of the community, especially young children who were eagerly awaiting the release of these coins, have been left disappointed due to their theft. Authorities are working tirelessly to recover the stolen coins and reintroduce them into circulation.

Investigations revealed that the accused had been employed at the warehouse from which the coins were stolen. He reportedly made off with the 500-kilogram haul by discreetly removing them from the back of a truck before promptly selling them online. It is believed that two other male individuals were involved in the crime, and the police are currently on the lookout for them.

A raid conducted in June at a residence in Sydney led to the recovery of 189 of the stolen coins. However, authorities state that the majority of the coins have already entered circulation. Individuals who have received these coins are not required to surrender them to the police, revealed a spokesperson. Nonetheless, the police are urging anyone with information about the location of large stashes of these stolen coins to come forward and assist in the investigation.

With the arrest of the primary suspect, law enforcement agencies remain committed to their efforts in recovering the remaining stolen coins and bringing the accomplices to justice. The stolen "Bluey" commemorative coins hold sentimental value for many, and the resolution of this case aims to restore the sense of excitement and joy associated with these treasured collectibles.
