### Super Bowl Returns to Atlanta in 2028

ATLANTA — The NFL's grandest event, the Super Bowl, will make its much-anticipated return to Atlanta in 2028. The league's team owners granted approval for the game to be held at the home of the Falcons, the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, during their annual fall meeting on Tuesday. This announcement marks the fourth time Atlanta will host the Super Bowl and the second time the event will take place at the recently constructed Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The stadium last hosted the championship in 2019, where the New England Patriots triumphed over the Los Angeles Rams.

Falcons owner Arthur M. Blank expressed his excitement, stating, "This is a tremendous honor for the city of Atlanta and the state of Georgia to be selected as host for Super Bowl LXII. Thank you to my fellow owners for their trust in awarding Atlanta this opportunity, and thank you to Commissioner Goodell, Peter O'Reilly, and the entire league for their continued leadership in making the NFL the greatest sports league in the world. Mercedes-Benz Stadium was built to host the world's largest sporting events, and I know I speak for many when I say we are honored to bring it back to Atlanta in 2028 and build off the success of Super Bowl 53 in 2019."

Atlanta's previous experience with the Super Bowl includes hosting the event twice at the Georgia Dome in 1994 and 2000. Both games marked significant moments in the city's sports history.

The 2028 Super Bowl adds to an exciting lineup of upcoming locations for the NFL's championship. Following this season, New Orleans will host the event, then it heads to California, with the San Francisco Bay Area hosting in 2026, and Los Angeles in 2027.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell praised Atlanta's capacity to host world-class events, commenting, "Renowned for its hospitality and rich sports and entertainment culture, Atlanta is a world-class event destination and a natural fit for Super Bowl 62. Arthur Blank has been a transformative figure in the Atlanta community, playing a crucial role in leading the bid to bring the Super Bowl back to the city."

Goodell further highlighted Blank's impact, noting his significant contributions to the Atlanta community through sports and philanthropy. "We look forward to working with him, the Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta Sports Council, and all of our partners on the ground to create an unforgettable experience for fans around the world in 2028," he added.

The announcement sets the stage for Atlanta to once again become the center of the sports world in 2028, promising an event that will resonate both locally and globally.
