Liverpool Football Club has reached an agreement with Feyenoord that will allow Arne Slot to become Jurgen Klopp's successor at Anfield. The 45-year-old Dutchman is set to join Liverpool in the summer, following the conclusion of Feyenoord's Eredivisie campaign.

Reports from The Athletic suggest that Liverpool initially had an offer of €9 million (£7.7 million, $9.6 million) rejected by Feyenoord. However, the two clubs have now reached a compensation package agreement, clearing the way for Slot's move.

Speaking before Feyenoord's Eredivisie win against Go Ahead Eagles, Slot expressed his desire to take up the Liverpool job and expressed confidence that a deal would be reached. He will be accompanied by Feyenoord assistant coach and head of performance Ruben Peeters, who is also set to join Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp has given his endorsement to Slot's appointment, stating his excitement at the prospect of working with the promising coach. Klopp's departure from Liverpool at the end of the season after nine years in charge has paved the way for Slot's arrival.

Slot, who guided Feyenoord to the Eredivisie title last season, has impressed with his attacking style of football and ability to develop young players. These qualities align closely with what Liverpool is seeking in a manager to replace Klopp.

Liverpool's interest in Slot was kept discreet until recently, as the club emphasized showing respect to Feyenoord ahead of the Dutch Cup final, which Liverpool won against Nijmegen. Slot had previously attracted interest from Tottenham Hotspur, but he rejected their offer and instead they appointed Ange Postecoglou as their manager.

With Liverpool currently standing in third place in the Premier League table, the appointment of Slot will be crucial in continuing the team's success. Liverpool's CEO of football, Michael Edwards, and sporting director Richard Hughes have been at the forefront of the managerial search following their recent appointments.

Arne Slot's appointment represents both a challenge and an opportunity for the Dutch manager. While the pressure and scrutiny at Anfield will be intense, Slot's attacking style of play, track record in player development, and strong character references make him a promising choice for Klopp's successor.

Liverpool fans will now eagerly await the official start of Slot's tenure at the club in the summer, hoping that he can continue the team's winning legacy.
