The pop star Ariana Grande has come under fire after revealing that serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer was one of her dream dinner guests. Dahmer, notoriously known for his brutal killing spree, targeted mainly people of color, causing widespread shock and horror between 1978 and 1991.

Grande's comments were made during an appearance on the Podcrushed podcast earlier this month. She spoke about her fascination with serial killers during her younger years and how she once mentioned Dahmer as her ideal dinner companion during a Q&A session with young fans and their parents.

The singer's interest in Dahmer has ignited controversy and condemnation, particularly from Shirley Hughes, the mother of Tony Hughes, one of Dahmer's victims. Hughes expressed her disgust, describing Grande's fascination as sick and urged the singer to issue an apology to her fans.

Dahmer, known as "The Milwaukee Cannibal," engaged in unspeakable acts of violence, including torture, dismemberment, sexual assault, necrophilia, and even cannibalism. His crimes shocked the nation, and his depravity was further emphasized by his chilling habit of storing body parts in his refrigerator and vats in his apartment.

Although Dahmer was eventually beaten to death in prison in 1994, Grande stated that she still harbors a curiosity about him and would have liked to ask him questions. However, she mentioned the importance of a third-party presence during any hypothetical meeting.

The recent release of the Netflix miniseries Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story has reignited discussions about the appropriateness of turning real-life murders into entertainment. Some critics argue that the show glamorizes the crimes, and several families of the victims expressed their displeasure, claiming that they were not contacted or given any input on their loved ones' stories being reenacted onscreen.

Newsweek has reached out to Grande's representative for a comment on the situation. The controversy surrounding Grande's comments highlights the delicate nature of discussing serial killers and their crimes, encouraging a broader conversation about the ethical boundaries of true crime entertainment.

It remains to be seen if Grande will address the backlash and offer a public apology to her fans and the families affected by Dahmer's heinous acts.
