In an update from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, it has been reported that the stock of the current iPad Air is gradually decreasing in Apple stores, indicating the imminent arrival of new models next month. Meanwhile, the iPad Pro continues to remain abundantly available, suggesting that Apple may sell through its current stock before introducing an upgraded version.
Apple has a history of managing its inventory according to product release cycles, reducing older unit shipments to make way for the latest offerings. Gurman's sources at multiple retail stores have indicated that inventory levels of the iPad Air are diminishing, a usual indicator of upcoming product unveilings.
The anticipated changes in the next-generation iPad Air include a more powerful M2 chip and an additional 12.9-inch display size option. On the other hand, rumors suggest that the iPad Pro might receive OLED display technology, the M3 chip, and new accessories.
Originally, the refreshed iPad Air and iPad Pro models were expected to be announced in April, but the latest information points to their unveiling during the second week of May.
While it is unclear where Gurman receives his sources, comments from users suggest that Apple may have strategically increased the supply of iPad Air models following the publication of his article. Nonetheless, Gurman has established himself as one of Apple's major information leakers.
In other Apple-related news, the developer behind the multi-emulator app Provenance has expressed intentions to release the app on the App Store, potentially allowing iPhone and Apple TV users to emulate games from classic consoles like the PlayStation, GameCube, and Wii.
Additionally, Apple has reportedly halted production of its FineWoven accessories due to their poor durability. The company may explore alternative non-leather materials for its premium accessories in the future.
Furthermore, details about the upcoming iOS 17.5 update for iPhones have emerged, revealing a few new user-facing features and potential code changes. The update is expected to bring web distribution capabilities for eligible developers, allowing them to distribute iOS apps to users located in the European Union.
Lastly, the popular game emulator app Delta, developed by Riley Testut, is now available for download on the App Store. This emulator, derived from Testut's previous GBA4iOS project, allows users to play games from various consoles on their iPhone.
With a wave of new Apple products and software updates on the horizon, tech enthusiasts and Apple aficionados have much to look forward to in the coming months.
