Anaheim Ducks Acquire Brian Dumoulin from Seattle Kraken for 2026 Draft Pick

The Anaheim Ducks have made a significant addition to their defensive lineup with the acquisition of defenseman Brian Dumoulin from the Seattle Kraken. In exchange, the Ducks traded a fourth-round selection in the 2026 NHL Draft.

Dumoulin, a seasoned player at 32 years old, brings a wealth of experience and success to the Ducks. He played a key role in the Pittsburgh Penguins' consecutive Stanley Cup championships in 2016 and 2017. Throughout his career, Dumoulin has participated in 626 NHL games, split between the Seattle Kraken during the 2023-24 season and the Pittsburgh Penguins from 2013 to 2023. He has amassed an impressive 155 points, consisting of 25 goals and 130 assists, with a +96 rating. Additionally, Dumoulin has accumulated 166 penalty minutes.

Not only has Dumoulin excelled in the regular season, but he has also proven himself in the high-stakes Stanley Cup Playoffs. In 81 postseason games, he has contributed 25 points, including 4 goals and 21 assists, with a +6 rating.

During the 2023-24 season with the Kraken, Dumoulin enjoyed personal success, achieving a career-high of 16 points, consisting of 6 goals and 10 assists, with a +3 rating. This performance placed him third among Kraken defensemen in terms of goals scored. Standing at an impressive 6 feet 4 inches and 207 pounds, Dumoulin has consistently showcased his defensive skills, earning a +89 rating over the past six seasons. This places him tied for 15th among all NHL defensemen since the 2018-19 season.

In the 2022-23 season, Dumoulin established himself as a force to be reckoned with, recording 25 points, including 1 goal and 24 assists, in 82 games with the Penguins. For the seventh consecutive season, he averaged over 20 minutes of ice time per game, highlighting his reliability and durability on the ice.

Before embarking on his professional career, Dumoulin honed his skills at Boston College, where he accumulated an impressive 83 points in 123 NCAA games from 2009 to 2012. His efforts did not go unnoticed, as he was selected by the Carolina Hurricanes in the second round (51st overall) of the 2009 NHL Draft. Dumoulin also had the privilege of representing Team USA at the 2011 World Junior Championship, where he played a crucial role in securing a bronze medal.
