### AMD's Upcoming Advancing AI Event Could Ignite Stock Surge

Anticipation is building for AMD's significant upcoming event — the Advancing AI Event scheduled for Thursday, October 10, in San Francisco. This anticipated occasion could act as a key catalyst for the chip giant’s stock performance.

During last year's event in December, AMD introduced its Instinct MI300 series GPU/APU platform and showcased advancements in AI PCs and its ROCm software stack. The company also raised its projected 2027 AI Total Addressable Market (TAM) from more than $150 billion to over $400 billion, signaling a strong growth outlook in the AI sector.

Cantor analyst C.J. Muse, one of the top-ranked experts on Wall Street, expects that this year's event will feature similarly significant product announcements. Speculation suggests that the official launch of AMD’s Turin data center CPUs, data center accelerators (MI325X), and AI PCs, possibly branded as Strix PRO, could be on the agenda. Muse also entertains the possibility of another AI TAM forecast update, which could extend projections into the 2028-2030 timeframe.

Muse emphasizes that AMD's compelling AI-driven portfolio positions the company well for gaining continued market share in both CPU and GPU data center landscapes. Even if AMD remains in second place behind Nvidia, capturing a portion of the vast $400 billion+ AI TAM market is a considerable opportunity. Muse argues that the demand for a second source for GPU accelerators will enable AMD to gain significant market traction if the company can achieve a 10%+ market share, which should reward its stock performance accordingly.

Reflecting on the impact of last year's event, AMD shares surged by 10% in the session following the announcements and saw a 26% overall increase by the end of the year. This year's event brings heightened expectations, with a need for AMD to instill increased investor confidence in its future technology roadmap. Gaining "Inference design wins" across a wider customer base beyond key clients such as Amazon and Google, who are rumored to be participating, will be crucial.

Muse concludes that if AMD management effectively communicates its vision and capabilities, the company’s shares should outperform throughout the remainder of the fourth quarter of 2024 and into 2025. He also notes that any developments enhancing confidence in AI GPU revenues exceeding $12 billion in 2025 could potentially drive the stock price towards the $200 mark.
