Alaska Airlines has officially commenced operations at the highly anticipated SFO Harvey Milk Terminal 1, marking a major milestone in the airline's commitment to providing an enhanced and seamless travel experience for its guests. The two-year, multimillion-dollar relocation project from Terminal 2 has allowed Alaska Airlines to deliver a world-class facility at San Francisco International Airport (SFO).

With its new location, Alaska Airlines becomes the largest carrier at Harvey Milk Terminal 1, solidifying its position as a key player in the region. The terminal will soon house the airline's newest and second-largest Lounge, set to open next month. This speaks to Alaska Airlines' unwavering dedication to prioritizing the comfort and care of its guests.

The move to Harvey Milk Terminal 1 not only brings Alaska Airlines closer to their fellow oneworld Alliance members and global partners but also ensures seamless connectivity for passengers traveling domestically or internationally. With over 130 weekly flights to 18 international destinations, Alaska Airlines and its partners offer an extensive network for travelers.

Excitingly, Alaska Airlines has introduced groundbreaking self-service technology, making it the first airline at SFO to offer automated bag drops. Guests will now be able to scan their boarding passes at the bag tag stations to print their bag tags before utilizing the automated bag drop units for a quick and efficient check-in process. This cutting-edge technology, born in Silicon Valley, aims to reduce congestion and long lines in the lobby, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free experience for passengers.

Shane Jones, the Senior Vice President of Fleet and Real Estate at Alaska Airlines, expressed the airline's enthusiasm for this monumental move, stating, "Our new home in San Francisco International Airport's Harvey Milk Terminal 1 delivers a world-class experience that our guests will love while supporting our goals of innovation, sustainability, and long-term growth." This relocation positions the airline for future expansion at their largest hub in California, catering to approximately 5 million passengers annually.

In addition to the technological advancements, Alaska Airlines has meticulously planned every aspect of its guests' journey. The terminal boasts ample seating with power outlets for charging devices, shorter taxi times to the runways, and additional gates to offer more flights to popular destinations, all aimed at saving time and reducing fuel consumption.

Starting July, guests can look forward to indulging in the brand-new Lounge, covering a sprawling 11,000 square feet, with 55% more seating capacity, complimentary West Coast wine, craft brews, and an expanded menu featuring fresh local ingredients. The Lounge is set to become the epitome of travel luxury and relaxation.

The relocation to Harvey Milk Terminal 1 comes at the perfect time to accommodate Alaska Airlines' busiest travel months. With numerous daily flights to cities like Seattle, Portland, and San Diego, as well as the recent launch of new nonstop service to Burbank, the airline remains dedicated to meeting the demands of its customers.

Alaska Airlines' investment in Harvey Milk Terminal 1 is part of a broader $3 billion infrastructure enhancement across its major West Coast hubs. In August, the airline is set to move into a brand-new, vibrant lobby at Portland International Airport, while a complete overhaul of gates and facilities in Terminal 6 at Los Angeles International Airport will be completed by the end of July.

The state-of-the-art Harvey Milk Terminal 1 boasts a sophisticated lobby with a breathtaking 100 x 4.5 feet LED screen showcasing panoramic images of the San Francisco Bay Area. With 22 counters, more bag drop locations, and 100% digital signage providing clear directions, the terminal ensures a smooth and efficient passenger experience.

Alaska Airlines' transition to Harvey Milk Terminal 1 also aligns with its commitment to sustainability. Being the newest terminal at SFO, Harvey Milk Terminal 1 earns the distinction of being the world's first airport terminal to receive Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) v4 Platinum certification, reaffirming its devotion to energy efficiency and environmental responsibility.

The relocation project at SFO Harvey Milk Terminal 1 not only symbolizes Alaska Airlines' dedication to the comfort and satisfaction of its guests, but also underscores its long-term vision of growth, innovation, and sustainability. With a world-class terminal in San Francisco, the airline is well-positioned to serve millions of passengers each year and continue to be a leading force in the aviation industry.
