In a surprising turn of events, Street Fighter 6 players have already unearthed two hidden super moves for the recently added character, Akuma. These secret abilities can only be accessed through a unique taunt that requires the player to wait patiently for 30 seconds while Akuma sits on the ground and indulges in a rice ball.
Akuma, who joined the Street Fighter 6 roster just a day ago, boasts an impressive seven super moves, including the two hidden ones that bypass the traditional move list. Despite their secrecy, fans quickly uncovered both the elusive taunt and the accompanying supers, as independently verified by IGN.
To initiate the secret taunt, players must execute Akuma's back taunt by holding back and pressing all six buttons, followed by mashing down on these buttons. This will trigger a taunt where Akuma enjoyably consumes a rice ball, unlocking the opportunity to perform the secret supers. One of the supers requires two quarter circles back input, followed by a kick, reminiscent of Kage's V-Trigger 1 in Street Fighter 5. The other can be triggered by pressing down, down, and all three punch buttons, and is essentially Akuma's super move from Street Fighter 5.
Furthermore, while in this unique state, Akuma also gains the ability to unleash his signature double air fireballs by performing a quarter circle back motion and pressing two punches while jumping forward in the air. Astonishingly, this move doesn't consume any meter.
However, fans were quick to point out that these secret supers may not be practical for competitive play, as the taunt exposes Akuma's vulnerable back to his opponent for a lengthy 30 seconds. Nevertheless, it provides a fun Easter Egg for aficionados of the series, and according to popular fighting game streamer Maximilian Dood, it could lead to some entertaining opening moments in Evo matches.
Akuma's inclusion has sparked renewed interest in Street Fighter 6, with a significant surge in players. According to SteamDB, there has been a notable increase in the player count, jumping from 5,000 to 25,000 prior to the update, to a whopping 70,000 players recorded on Steam shortly after the character's introduction.
Akuma, as a classic boss character originally featured in Street Fighter II, has undoubtedly generated excitement among fans. Street Fighter 6 has received high praise from IGN, earning a 9/10 rating for its extensive features, excellent character roster, revitalized mechanics, and overall polished gameplay.
With Akuma's secret supers now in the hands of skilled players, it remains to be seen how they will be incorporated into competitive matches and whether they will have a significant impact on the game's evolving metagame. Nevertheless, it seems Akuma's addition to Street Fighter 6 has provided both thrilling surprises and nostalgic callbacks to the beloved franchise.
