Airbus Provides Update on 2024 Guidance: Expects 770 Commercial Aircraft Deliveries and € 5.5bn EBIT Adjusted
Amsterdam, 24 June 2024 - Airbus SE has announced a market update regarding its space activities and commercial aircraft business, resulting in an update to its 2024 guidance. The company revealed charges of approximately € 0.9bn for certain telecommunications, navigation, and observation space programs in the first half of 2024.
Airbus conducted a thorough technical review of its space programs and identified additional commercial and technical challenges. As a result, adjustments were made to assumptions on schedules, workload, sourcing, risks, and costs over the lifetime of these programs, leading to the recorded charges.
In the commercial aircraft segment, Airbus is facing ongoing supply chain issues, particularly related to engines, aerostructures, and cabin equipment. As a consequence, the company expects to deliver around 770 commercial aircraft in 2024. However, it remains committed to the goal of reaching a production rate of 75 A320 Family aircraft per month, now projected for 2027.
Given these developments, Airbus is revising its 2024 guidance. The updated outlook is based on the assumption of no further disruptions to the global economy, air traffic, supply chain, internal operations, and the ability to deliver products and services. The guidance does not include any information regarding mergers and acquisitions.
In light of the new projections, Airbus aims to achieve around 770 commercial aircraft deliveries in 2024. The company also expects an adjusted EBIT of approximately € 5.5 billion and a free cash flow before customer financing of around € 3.5 billion for the same period.
