In an effort to ensure the safe delivery of humanitarian aid, a convoy of 15 trucks loaded with flour entered Gaza City and the Jabalya refugee camp on Saturday. The trucks were accompanied by a "guard squad," comprised of masked armed men, who claimed to be authorized by Palestinian factions and the national consensus to protect the aid trucks from potential attacks or theft.

According to reports from the Saudi news outlet, A-Sharq Al-Awsat, the guard squad, believed to be aligned with Fatah and Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, took charge of securing the aid trucks starting the following day. Several guards boarded the trucks, while others walked alongside, preventing crowds from approaching.

The flour, which had been loaded onto the trucks, was safely transferred to warehouses affiliated with the Palestinian Authority's Welfare Ministry in the Rimal neighborhood. This marked a significant development, as it was the first time aid trucks reached the Jabalya camp in recent months, offering hope for the residents who have been facing dire conditions.

The arrival of the aid trucks and the subsequent implementation of increased security measures come amidst heightened tensions between Fatah and Hamas. Fatah has strongly criticized Hamas for allegedly causing a "new Nakba" (catastrophe) and Israel's reoccupation of the Gaza Strip. Fatah accuses Hamas of being disconnected from the reality faced by the Palestinians and failing to consult with the Palestinian leadership before deciding to initiate an attack on October 7, which Fatah deems as having resulted in a "most horrific disaster," surpassing even the catastrophic events of the 1948 Nakba.

Furthermore, Fatah has taken issue with the Hamas leadership in Qatar, questioning why they live lavish lifestyles in luxurious hotels while their families have supposedly abandoned the Palestinian people to face war without protection.

In response to the ongoing strife, Fatah has issued a statement conveying its priorities for the Palestinian people, which include an immediate end to the war, prevention of displacement, provision of humanitarian aid to Gazans, reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, and addressing the division among Palestinians in order to reunite the homeland.

Meanwhile, American media has reported that Israel is considering utilizing international private security companies to safeguard future aid shipments entering Gaza. These reports suggest that Israel has been in contact with various security companies, proposing that other nations shoulder the associated security costs.

As the situation in Gaza remains critical, the arrival of aid trucks under the guard of armed personnel presents a glimmer of hope for the residents in desperate need. However, further efforts are needed to address the underlying tensions and divisions among Palestinian factions in order to bring about lasting stability and unity.
