In exciting news for Acura enthusiasts, the popular three-row MDX crossover is set to receive a mid-cycle refresh for the 2025 model year. While there are a few subtle exterior changes, the major updates are happening inside the vehicle.
One of the most noteworthy changes is the retirement of the unloved precision trackpad in favor of a user-friendly touchscreen display. The central display remains at 12.3 diagonal, but it has been conveniently moved closer to the edge of the dashboard for easier access by the driver.
Additionally, Acura has introduced Google services to the MDX, with the implementation of Honda's new Android Automotive software running on the screen. This means that navigation will now be powered by Google Maps, eliminating the need to connect a phone. Furthermore, Google Assistant will provide voice control functionality, making it even more convenient for drivers.
In terms of design, the front fascia of the MDX has been recontoured to achieve a sportier appearance. The grille now features a redesigned diamond mesh, adding a touch of sophistication to the vehicle. A new A-Spec trim has also been added, showcasing a sportier fascia from the higher performance Type-S variant.
In terms of safety, the MDX now boasts the updated AcuraWatch 360 driver assistance system. This includes a range of advanced features such as blindspot monitoring, cross-traffic alerts, lane change assist, and collision mitigation. The system has been equipped with an upgraded front camera and long-range radar, as well as touch sensors in the steering wheel for enhanced precision.
Under the hood, the MDX retains its powertrain options from the previous year. The base and A-Spec models feature a 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6 engine, while the high-performance Type S variant comes equipped with a powerful 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine, delivering an impressive 355 horsepower. Both engines are paired with 10-speed automatic transmissions, ensuring a smooth and efficient driving experience.
For those who prefer to integrate their smartphones, the MDX offers wireless Carplay and Android Auto compatibility. Additionally, a wireless Qi charging pad and USB-C ports come standard, allowing for convenient charging on the go.
The refreshed MDX lineup is bound to attract attention with its updated design, improved technology, and enhanced safety features. Acura enthusiasts can look forward to experiencing the brand's commitment to delivering a luxurious and technologically advanced crossover. The 2025 Acura MDX is set to hit the market, offering drivers a truly exhilarating driving experience.
