In one of her final podcast episodes released on June 24, actress Shannen Doherty opened up about her challenging journey with cancer treatments. Doherty, best known for her role in "Beverly Hills, 90210," sadly lost her long battle with stage 4 breast cancer on Saturday at the age of 53.
During the podcast episode titled "Let's Be Clear," Doherty expressed her difficulty in facing the prospect of undergoing chemotherapy again. She shared, "I'm having to go back on chemo and it's really hard. The idea of going through that all over again has wrecked me."
The actress emphasized how the experience of going to the hospital, getting put under anesthesia, and having a port implanted had made the reality of her condition even more tangible. Doherty admitted, "It becomes very real in an incredibly different way."
Uncertain about the duration of her chemotherapy, Doherty revealed, "I have no idea if it's going to be, you know, three months or if it's going to be six months, or if after three months it's not working, if we're going to change again." The unpredictability of her treatment added to her fear and anxiety.
Doherty acknowledged that her cancer battle, coupled with her divorce from husband Kurt Iswarienko, had left her feeling overwhelmed and lacking control over her own life. In an interview with People, Doherty expressed her determination to keep fighting. She said, "I'm not done with living. I'm not done with loving. I'm not done with creating. I'm not done with hopefully changing things for the better. I'm just not - I'm not done."
