The nominations for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's Class of 2024 have been announced, featuring a diverse and influential list of artists. Among the nominees are legendary musicians such as Cher, Ozzy Osbourne, Oasis, Sinéad O'Connor, Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige, Dave Matthews Band, Eric B. & Rakim, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Jane's Addiction, Kool & the Gang, Lenny Kravitz, and A Tribe Called Quest.

According to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation Chairman, John Sykes, this year's list of nominees reflects the incredible variety of artists and music that the institution honors and celebrates. These musicians have created unique sounds that have not only impacted generations but have also influenced countless others who've followed in their footsteps.

To make the ballot this year, each nominee's first single or album had to have been released in 1999 or earlier. Among the fifteen nominees, ten are first-time contenders, including Mariah Carey, Cher, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Kool & the Gang, Lenny Kravitz, Oasis, Sinéad O'Connor, Ozzy Osbourne, and Sade. However, all of them have been eligible for previous nominations.

This year marks the third nomination for A Tribe Called Quest and the second for Mary J. Blige, Dave Matthews Band, Eric B. & Rakim, and Jane's Addiction. These artists have consistently proved their lasting impact on the rock and roll genre.

The announcement of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's Class of 2024 winners is scheduled for late April. The induction ceremony, which will take place in Cleveland, is yet to be finalized but is expected to happen sometime later this year.

The induction ceremony has historically been a platform for stunning reunion performances. This year, fans are eagerly anticipating a possible reunion of Oasis, although the conflicting relationship between Noel and Liam Gallagher makes it a challenging prospect. Additionally, the ceremony may witness rare live performances by Ozzy Osbourne, the surviving members of Foreigner, and A Tribe Called Quest. Dave Navarro is also expected to join Jane's Addiction for the first time since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.

An interesting revelation came with the nomination of Cher, who has surprisingly never been nominated before, either as a solo artist or as part of the iconic duo Sonny and Cher. "I'm not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!" exclaimed Cher during an interview in December 2023, stating that she would not change her mind even if offered a million dollars. Her exclusion from the Hall of Fame remains a notable oversight for many fans.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's Class of 2024 nominations have generated excitement and anticipation for this year's induction. Music lovers and industry insiders alike eagerly await the unveiling of the deserving artists who will join the esteemed ranks of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
