In a heartfelt New Year's Eve message on Instagram, Scottish musician Lewis Capaldi opened up about his ongoing journey towards better mental health and his decision to remain out of the public eye for the time being. The 27-year-old singer-songwriter, who took a break from touring in June to focus on his wellbeing, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support he received from fans and professionals in his quest to learn about and cope with his Tourette's and anxiety issues.

Capaldi revealed that he has noticed a marked improvement in his overall health since stepping back from the stage. He commended the professionals he has been working with, acknowledging their role in helping him understand and manage his conditions. The support and well-wishes he received from fans following his hiatus announcement touched him deeply, showcasing their unwavering dedication and making him more excited than ever to return to what he loves in the future.

The acclaimed artist recalled his struggle at the Glastonbury Festival last summer when he found it challenging to finish performing his Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit "Someone You Loved." In response, he made the difficult decision to take a break from touring to prioritize his mental and physical health. Capaldi's decision to prioritize self-care has evidently paid off, as he now feel recharged and ready to face the future head-on.

Alongside his update on his mental wellbeing, Capaldi also made an exciting announcement regarding his musical repertoire. He disclosed that he will be releasing an extended version of his second album, Broken By the Desire to Be Heavenly Sent, at midnight on January 1st. The extended album will feature five additional songs that Capaldi felt would be a shame to keep hidden away and offer fans a deeper glimpse into his artistry.

Although the "Before You Go" singer-songwriter plans to continue taking time for himself, he hinted that he may also use this period to write new music. Reflecting on the incredible years of his life, he expressed a strong desire to ensure his own well-being is at its peak before returning to the stage and doing what he loves the most.

Fans of Capaldi will undoubtedly be buoyed by his positive update on his mental health journey. As they eagerly await the release of the extended album, they can take comfort in knowing that their favorite artist is prioritizing his own wellbeing and taking the necessary steps to ensure he provides them with the best possible music in the future.
