In another disturbing development, yet another sexual assault lawsuit has been filed against music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs. This time, the lawsuit alleges that Combs engaged in sex trafficking and gang rape of a woman when she was just 17 years old in 2003. The complaint, filed in New York federal court on Wednesday, also includes Harve Pierre, former president of Bad Boy Entertainment, and mentions a third unnamed assailant.
This marks the fourth lawsuit to be filed against Combs in the past three weeks, causing the hip-hop TV network Revolt, of which he was the chairman, to announce his resignation. The lawsuit provides further evidence of a pattern of alleged sexual misconduct surrounding the music mogul, whose career has been marred by multiple accusations in recent times.
According to the complaint, Combs, who was 34 years old at the time, convinced the woman identified as Jane Doe to fly on his private jet from Detroit to New York City, where she was taken to his recording studio. Once there, she claims to have been given drugs and alcohol to the point where she could not have possibly consented to any sexual activity.
The complaint alleges that while in the recording studio, Combs, accompanied by the third assailant and Mr. Pierre, gang raped Jane Doe in a specific order. Disturbingly, the complaint includes pictures of the woman with Combs at the recording studio as evidence.
This lawsuit comes just a month after Combs faced similar allegations. Several women brought legal action against him under New York's Adult Survivors Act, which allows for claims of sexual misconduct to be made within a one-year window. The music industry has seen a series of prominent figures facing accusations, including L.A. Reid, Neil Portnow, and Axl Rose, with sexual assault victims coming forward to bring their claims.
One of the earlier lawsuits involved Joi Dickerson-Neal, who appeared briefly in one of Combs' music videos. She alleged that he drugged and raped her back in 1991 when she was a college student at Syracuse University. Another recent lawsuit from an anonymous woman, also identified as Jane Doe, accused Combs and R&B singer Aaron Hall of sexually assaulting her and a friend, as well as choking her until she lost consciousness, while urging her not to report the incident.
These lawsuits continue to be filed, with last week seeing the resolution of a suit brought by R&B singer Cassie, who accused Combs of raping and physically abusing her for nearly a decade.
While this latest lawsuit was filed after the deadline to bring a claim under New York's Adult Survivors Act, it alleges a violation of the state's gender-motivated violence law. Harve Pierre, who is also named in the lawsuit, has not immediately responded to a request for comment.
The shocking and deeply disturbing allegations against Sean "Diddy" Combs continue to unfold, raising serious questions about accountability and justice within the music industry.
