Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) has successfully secured midfielder Lewis O'Brien on loan from Nottingham Forest of the English Premier League until 2024. The deal includes a club option to purchase. O'Brien, who will occupy an International Roster Slot, awaits the receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and P1 Visa to be added to the LAFC roster. The acquisition was made possible by LAFC acquiring O'Brien's Right of First Refusal from D.C. United in exchange for $50,000 in 2025 General Allocation Money (GAM).

In a statement regarding the signing, LAFC Co-President & General Manager John Thorrington expressed his excitement about the addition of O'Brien to the team. Thorrington praised O'Brien as a dynamic and versatile midfielder whose qualities will enhance the midfield group and aid in LAFC's pursuit of trophies. Thorrington also acknowledged Nottingham Forest and O'Brien's representative, Kevin Sharp, for their professionalism throughout the transfer process.

O'Brien, 25, joins LAFC following his loan spell at Middlesbrough in the English Championship, where he made 23 appearances (18 starts) and recorded one assist in 1,576 minutes during the 2023-24 season. Prior to his time at Middlesbrough, O'Brien played on loan for D.C. United, featuring in 17 matches (17 starts) and contributing with one goal and one assist in 1,515 minutes.

The midfielder, hailing from Colchester, England, originally signed with Nottingham Forest in 2022 from Huddersfield Town. O'Brien made his Nottingham Forest debut in August 2022 and scored his first EPL goal against Fulham FC in September 2022, amassing a total of 17 appearances in all competitions for the club. Prior to Nottingham Forest, he played for Bradford City and Huddersfield Town, where he garnered acclaim for his performances.
