Austin FC has announced the departure of Head Coach Josh Wolff following a meeting with Founder, Majority Owner, and CEO Anthony Precourt, along with Sporting Director Rodolfo Borrell. Wolff, who led the team to a Western Conference Final appearance in 2022, leaves the club after back-to-back seasons without playoff qualification.

"As the first manager in Club history, we would like to extend our gratitude for Josh's role in the growth and development of our Club. After back-to-back seasons without playoff qualification, we realize that a fresh start is required next season under the leadership of a new head coach," stated Precourt.

Borrell, a highly experienced Sporting Director with a background at prestigious clubs such as Barcelona and Liverpool, emphasized the club's ambitions to consistently perform at a high level in MLS. An interim manager will be appointed for the team's final 2024 regular season match.

Following the announcement, social media was abuzz with reactions from fans. While some emphasized the need for change citing Wolff as an average coach, others speculated on potential replacements and expressed surprise at the decision. Notably, there were comments from fans of other MLS teams, with some acknowledging Austin FC's decision and others injecting humor into the situation.

Austin FC will conclude their 2024 regular season against the Colorado Rapids, with Borrell scheduled to address the media to discuss the coaching change. The club will now focus on finding a new head coach to lead them into the next chapter of their MLS journey.
